The Boss called me this morning to let me know he’d managed to negotiate the carnage on the roads caused by Storm Gertrude (I’m being sarcastic – the main route to the city was absolutely fine. Just a bit windy). He suggested I abandon the kids to their breakfast and go out to see the “rainbow clouds”. So they fought over boiled eggs and yelled at each other while I gazed at some beautiful clouds.
Social media is warring over whether they were nacreous clouds or iridescent clouds. Personally I think the latter. Either way, though, they’re some kind of cirro cumulus cloud and definitely not noctilucent clouds, which come out at midnight in June in North Scotland.
Sorry about the dodgy quality, but they’re from my phone, taken while I dodged flying debris in a howling gale.
